Kojo Sam ... experienced performer and workshop presenter brings African music, dance and culture to you. drumming and dancing Kojo Sam presents workshops in traditional drumming from Africa. He is a patient, dedicated and professional instructor who has a special gift for utilising the full potential of each group he works with. He brings his own beautifully hand crafted drums to each workshop. These traditional drums were made by an internationally reknowned Ghanaian drum maker and are of the highest quality. Dance is an integral part of African life and Kojo Sam can include simple traditional dances into the presentation. traditional African songs Singing is an important part of life in many African cultures. Kojo Sam teaches songs about work, death, praise and recreational songs. Even those who are shy or reluctant singers will love the call and response element of the workshop. Singing accompanies the drumming and is presented in a very relaxed manner. story telling Story telling is an integral feature in African life. Stories help teach younger generations moral standards and how they are expected to live in their society. If appropriate, story telling can be included in the workshop format. This aspect is particularly good for younger workshop participants. culture and lifestlye Kojo Sam can allow time for activities (carrying water on head, games, chants) questions and general cultural discussion to help foster a greater understanding of African culture … and maybe even dispel some myths! |
