Team Building with African Drumming Traditional African drumming relies on every member working as a team. Kojo Sam teaches a variety of simple interlocking drum patterns - all of which require each person to listen to the other to achieve success. It is very challenging but the outcome is tangible. We have all achieved the same goal. The group is divided into teams and each team plays a different role or pattern, just like a car manufacturing company; each team has different tasks but will produce a car at the end of the production line. In our team building workshops, we take a piece of drumming and divide it into different sections. Each team forms a section of the ensemble; the bell section plays one part, the rattles another and the drums play their own patterns ... a perfect analogy for the work place. Team Building with African drumming should not consist of the whole group playing one pattern - while this will be fun, but think about whether this is really team building or just a drum playing session. Kojo Sam allows groups to delve deeper. It is likely that most participants will have never touched a traditional African drum before and will have no experience to draw from. These workshops provide a wonderful opportunity for your team to try new things and work in unfamiliar situations.
